Schwarzwald is an experimental narrative
project that draws on the techniques of non-linear theater to reinterpret
Bortbyting, a Swedish folk tale in which infants are abducted by supernatural
beings and replaced with changelings. Set within a surreal and fragmented
vision of the Black Forest, the project unfolds through disjointed third-person
storytelling, weaving together elements of myth, memory, and absurdity. By
integrating live performance with narrative reconstruction, Schwarzwald
dissolves the boundary between fiction and reality, evoking a persistent sense
of estrangement and psychological dislocation. The work invites viewers into a
world where the familiar becomes uncanny, prompting reflection on identity,
loss, and the instability of perception.
